On Friday, I had the pleasure of convening the Special Education Needs and Inclusion Conference (SENICON) 2020 on behalf of The Winford Centre for Children and Women. The event was held in partnership with UNESCO and Bridg-Networking Germany. It was originally scheduled for four hours but we ended spending five! That says something about the depth and quality of conversations that were held there. You can read more details about the conference here.

One of the highlights of the day for me was the unveiling session where a number of things were revealed. First, my new book Dragons can Sing was officially unveiled by the UNESCO Regional Director who was represented by Dr Stephen Onyekwelu. Dr Onyekwelu tagged the book as an innovative idea which UNESCO will be happy to support.

Then, we revealed the German, Portuguese and Spanish versions of ‘I am not naughty- I really really mean it!‘. You may recall from my last post here that ‘I am not naughty- I really really mean it! was selected as a finalist of the British Council ELTons Innovations Awards. So, having the book translated into 3 foreign languages is a big deal. The translations were facilitated by Dr Hannia Bridg of Bridg- Networking Germany. She also had the honour of unveiling the books at the conference. She emphasised the importance of getting the message of the book to other parts of the world.

All the books are available on Amazon. All the proceeds from the sales of these books go to charity.

Apart from the books, I also revealed my new podcast Inclusive Education Simplified where we will be demystifying and breaking down the concept of inclusive education for children with special need such that it would be much easier for the average teacher to practice. Make sure you subscribe so that you don’t miss anything.

It was definitely an impactful day. The insights shared, the comments and feedback from the event were soul-lifting. If you missed the conference and would like to view the recording, please get in touch here. I can’t wait to share the lessons I learnt with you all. Until then, here is to say thank you to all those who participated.
