It sounds unbelievable but I haven't always been courageous or championed inclusion. What I've learnt about courage, clarity and inclusion have come from difficult experiences and that's why I now teach others. Over the past two decades, I’ve led in finance as Deputy CFO, founded organisations, advised boards, authored 7 books, and gained a Cambridge PhD with a focus on inclusion. But underneath that is an ambitious mother, who has struggled with feelings of dissonance, guilt, frustration and resentment, especially when my actions and decisions did not align with my true beliefs. Through it all, I have learnt to lead myself and others with courage, clarity and inclusion. And that's what I want for you too.
And we are experiencing the impact not just in the people or systems that we lead but also in ourselves.
The same way we have learnt to develop better financial frameworks, we can learn how to transform ourselves, the people and the systems that we lead. The future of leadership will not be shaped by power alone, but also by courage, clarity, inclusion and humanity.
